What is a brow lift?

Also known as a forehead lift, a brow lift minimizes forehead creases, corrects the deep wrinkling that occurs high on the bridge of the nose; improves what are commonly referred to as frown lines; and repositions a low or sagging brow.

Oftentimes patients come to us to correct the forehead drooping that they feel gives them a “sad,” “tired” or “angry” appearance. Our patients commonly report that they feel more approachable and look better-rested after the procedure. A brow lift can take years off a person’s perceived age while still looking natural. Acquaintances of the patient often comment that he or she looks great, but cannot pinpoint what’s different. This is one of the most popular procedures our patients request.

What are the benefits of a brow lift?

  • Creates a more inviting, friendly facial expression
  • Smooths away excess wrinkles and folds
  • Improves vision
  • Offers more choices in hairstyle
  • Pairs well with blepharoplasty and facelift surgery
  • Boosts self-esteem

What can I expect from my procedure?

A brow lift can be performed under local anesthesia in our state-of-the-art surgical suite in-office and can be combined with other procedures, particularly an eyelid lift or corrugator muscle excision, to create a natural, refreshed appearance. Dermabrasion is yet another option to dramatically improve very deep forehead lines.

Brow lifts are individualized to meet the patient’s needs and expectations. All brow lift incisions are done within the hairline, making the scar nearly undetectable after recovery.

This is my second cosmetic procedure with Dr. Poulos and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome of both procedures. I made my decisions to proceed with confidence because I knew the risks, knew what the best options were for me and I knew that I was in good hands. Six stars!

Before & After

Who makes an ideal brow lift candidate?

Anyone who is experiencing age-related sagging and drooping in their eyebrows and forehead is a good candidate for brow lift surgery, provided they are of sound mind and body, with realistic expectations for their results. Additionally, patients should be non-smokers, and not taking any blood thinners at the time of their surgery.

What will recovery entail?

Once your brow lift surgery is completed, your upper face will be bandaged, and you will receive ample pain medications. Bruising and swelling will be kept to a minimum by the doctor’s conservative approach, but you will still experience these side effects to a certain degree. Rest assured they will diminish with time, usually over the course of a few weeks. Dr. Poulos will conduct regular follow up sessions with you to ensure your recovery is on track.
