Is a Mommy Makeover Right for You?

It's a familiar story—after having a child or multiple children, your body isjust not what it used to be. At this point, many women find themselves considering plastic surgery. Wanting to restore self-confidence in one’s appearance is rather common. If this sounds like you, I would suggest you consider looking into the possibility of a Mommy Makeover.

So, what is a Mommy Makeover? It's a combination of surgical procedures usually focused on the breasts and stomach. Frequently after giving birth, many women find themselves with sagging, large, or painful to support breasts; excessive skin in the abdominal area; deposits of fat surrounding the scar where a C-section was performed; or signs of aging that they would just rather reverse. These procedures can help get your youthful looks back and fit into old clothes.

Tummy tucks are among the most common procedures performed in a Mommy Makeover. This removes excessive loose skin from the abdominal area and tightens connective tissue that often loses elasticity during pregnancy. Liposuction, which uses ultrasound energy and suction to remove excess fat, is also an option for reducing fat around the waist.

Women who would like larger and more lifted breasts can receive breast augmentation. Alternatively, overly large breasts that cause you pain can make you a candidate for a reduction, in which your surgeon removes excess skin and breast tissue. If breast size is not an issue, you could simply like to have a breast lift for sagging or correction of uneven breasts. You can receive any combination of these procedures, depending on what is best for your body.

The best candidates for these procedures are at a healthy weight, don't smoke or drink excessively, and have a realistic expectation of their surgeries’ outcomes. It is also recommended you stop taking inflammatory medicine prior to the procedure. Make sure you have a good support system at home since surgery requires some recovery time. The length of every recovery period varies depending on the procedures you select.Mommy Makeover Photo, Plastic Surgeon, MA – Classique Medical Spa, Cynthia M. Poulos M.D., LLC
