Laser liposuction of the neck

Laser liposuction of the neck often refers to the submental chin area. Submental chin includes the area below the margin of the jaw, and extends onto the front of the neck. Regardless of one's age, a collection of excess fat beneath the chin makes one look chubby, older and less athletic. Liposuction is usually the simplest, safest, and least expensive way to treat this cosmetic problem.

Laser liposuction focuses low-energy waves delivered by a thin laser fiber that's inserted through small incisions. The laser energy is focused on the part of the neck where you'd like to have a fatty pocket removed. After the fat is melted, a small cannula is used to suck out the liquefied fat. The energy from the laser does provide some skin tightening; you can expect the tightening effect to continue for up to six months post-op.

Laser liposuction of the neck can be combined with virtually any facial or neck surgery to achieve optimum results. This procedure is performed under local anesthesia in our state-of-the-art surgical suite in our Northborough location.
