What is labiaplasty?

Childbirth, weight fluctuations, genetics and aging can all contribute to changes in the inner and outer vaginal lips, changes that can cause a host of problems, from decreased sexual enjoyment to urinary incontinence. Labiaplasty is a strategic surgical procedure to help restore aesthetic harmony and improved function to the labia minora and labia majora. The procedure can help resolve chaffing and irritation, while improving self-confidence and satisfaction with one’s image.

What are the benefits?

  • Increased sexual pleasure and function
  • Improved comfort during physical activities and sports
  • Improved aesthetic appearance
  • Boost in self-confidence
  • Reduced irritation

What will my procedure entail?

Labiaplasty is performed as an outpatient procedure, under general anesthesia. The details of the procedure vary depending on each patient’s unique case. During labiaplasty, Dr. Poulos may trim excess skin around the outside of the vagina (labia majora) and resculpt the remaining skin for a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.

She may also modify the inner folds of skin leading into the vaginal opening (labia minora). The tissues in the labial folds are reshaped and tightened as needed.
