Deep Chemical Peel vs. Light Chemical Peel

Our light chemical peel in Northborough and Worcester is a very different treatment than a deep chemical peel. A light peel achieves superficial exfoliation and refreshes the skin, providing a complexion that is mildly smoother and clearer.

A deep peel, on the other hand, is performed by Dr. Poulos in a surgical setting. They are the strongest and most aggressive types of chemical peel, and can require extensive recovery time and discomfort.

Who Should Get a Light Peel?

The best candidates for a light peel are those who have small skin imperfections that need attention, and those who want an overall revitalizing glow.

What is the Procedure for a Light Peel?

Before your peel, you will consult with our team to determine the right level of peel and the ideal ingredients for your specific skin type and aesthetic goals.

  • Your face will be thoroughly cleansed.
  • The mild chemical solution will be applied directly to your skin and left on for the appropriate amount of time. You may feel some burning or stinging, which is very tolerable.
  • Once the light peel has done its work, it will be washed off your skin and neutralized.

A light chemical peel may be added to any facial treatment to improve skin texture, or experienced as a standalone service.

What is the Recovery Time for a Light Peel?

Recovery from our light peel is very minimal. You may experience redness, flaking skin, tightness, irritation, or a mild stinging sensation during recovery. The more light peels you have, the less noticeable these side effects will be.

By days 3-4, you’ll need to be patient. Your skin will be in a healing phase, and you’ll understand why it’s called a peel. There will be significant peeling and the tight sensation will likely still be present. Your skin will also feel dry. Be sure to moisturize as needed and wear plenty of sunscreen outside.

By days 5-7, your skin will start to look normal again.

Be sure to follow all of the home care directions we provide you with. For a week or so, you should be very mindful with skin products and cosmetics, as these may cause irritated skin and draw out the recovery process longer than it needs to be.

Restore Radiance to Your Skin with a PRX Peel

Our PRX peel in Worcester, much like the many other cutting-edge treatments offered at Pretty with Poulos, is an innovative technique that can bring back life to your skin, correcting any imperfections and stimulating skin regeneration. It can be used to treat a wide range of issues, including dilated pores, stretch marks, and depressed scars. It can also improve the hydration of your skin, rejuvenate your neckline, and brighten your facial skin.

To apply PRX, the product will be massaged into your skin until it is totally absorbed. During your session, which will take about 30 minutes, you may require anywhere from two to five applications. In the days following your PRX peel, you will need to apply a prescribed moisturizer to your skin two to three times a day to assist with the healing process. Depending on the results you are seeking, you may need several sessions.

Why the PRX Peel Stands Out as a Revolutionary Treatment

Our PRX peel in Northborough is a unique type of peel that involves little to no discomfort. Although your skin may be a bit pink immediately after your treatment, there is essentially no downtime. You can even apply sunscreen and makeup right after the peel. Most importantly, you will enjoy a beautiful and noticeable glow to your skin.

Here are some other ways in which the PRX peel stands out:

  • There is little to no peeling.
  • You will notice tightening in your skin.
  • You do not have to avoid the sun after your treatment.
  • There is little to no pain.

How Can We Help You?

Our skincare professionals will evaluate your skin condition and choose the peel most appropriate for you. They may select from peels from the Environ, or CosMedix skincare lines carried in our Spa, or may custom-mix a peel just for you.

A light chemical peel may be added to any facial treatment to improve skin texture, or enjoyed as a standalone service.
