What Is Lip Augmentation With Lip Fillers?

Glamorous, full lips are one of our most requested treatments. Dr. Poulos can plump lips to restore lost volume and shape. We are always careful to create a flattering lip shape with a proportion that is complementary to the patient’s overall facial structure. We understand the difference between conservative and very full lip augmentation, and will accommodate your request. Oftentimes, the “restored” lip will look better than the lip the patient had in her youth!

Lip augmentation/enhancement often involves more than just injecting the lips. You must also add volume and restore the corners of the mouth, below the lip area and often the jaw and chin as well. It is through this process of rejuvenating the lower third of the face that you can create a natural-looking and beautifully-proportioned lip and mouth area.

What Are The Main Ingredients In Lip Injections?

Injectable dermal filler products such as Restylane Silk are suitable for use in the lips. Restylane is a hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a clear, biodegradable substance that occurs naturally in the body’s joints and skin. HA binds with water molecules once injected into the lips, allowing hyaluronic acid-based fillers to moisturize as well as plump the lips. Because HA occurs naturally in the body, a pre-treatment allergy test is not necessary with these lip fillers.

What Are The Benefits Of Lip Augmentation?

  • Fuller, plumper, more feminine lips
  • A brighter, more alluring smile
  • Increased self-confidence
  • More proportionate, symmetrical lips
  • Decrease in lip lines and smoker’s lines

What Can I Expect From My Recovery And Results?

Lip augmentation with injectable lip fillers provides pleasing results in as little as 30 minutes. Anesthesia is typically not necessary for the procedure because the filler usually includes lidocaine or another topical anesthetic. The results with injectable lip fillers are temporary because the body eventually breaks down and absorbs the filler. The length of time the results last varies with each individual, but the average is generally two to six months.

Lips can also be augmented with the placement of fat, dermal grafts, or implants. Lip advancement is a long-lasting surgical procedure that can result in greater lip pout. A sagging upper lip can also be lifted. Discover how lovely your lips can look under the skilled care of Dr. Poulos!
