What is BOTOX?®

Dr. Poulos offers several wrinkle-relaxing injectable treatments: BOTOX (Botulinum Toxin A) and Dysport. Both treatments work by blocking the nerve signal that causes the facial muscles to contract. This ultimately results in a localized reduction of muscle activity in the treated area and temporarily reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Contrary to some misinformation, Botulinum Toxin A for wrinkle relaxation and Dysport are medical-grade toxins derived through a safe process that will not give you botulism.

It is, however, extremely important that you go to an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon to receive your treatment, rather than shop around for the cheapest price.

Why leave your health and your face in the hands of amateurs? The old adage is still true: “You get what you pay for and, if it sounds too good to be true…it probably is.”

What are the benefits of BOTOX and Dysport?

  • A more youthful, relaxed appearance
  • Non-surgical, no anesthesia or incisions
  • Little to no downtime
  • Painless
  • Improves self-image and confidence levels
BOTOX Northborough

Who is the ideal candidate for BOTOX and Dysport?

Our Northborough BOTOX and Dysport treatments can be a wonderful cosmetic solution for anyone who wants to see improvement in their appearance, but who isn’t ready for an invasive procedure such as a facelift or blepharoplasty. Good candidates suffer from dynamic wrinkles and fine lines including crow’s feet, frown lines, lip lines, forehead furrows, and neck banding. They should be non-smokers in good health, both physically and psychologically, with realistic expectations for their results.

Dr. Poulos will perform a physical examination of your skin during your Northborough consultation and will then make her best recommendations as far as which specific injectables will be the most helpful.

Is there any recovery to speak of?

With BOTOX and Dysport injections in Northborough, you will be in and out of the office very quickly. There are no incisions and no anesthesia to deal with, so healing is very rapid. Some minor soreness, redness or swelling at the injection site is common, but these symptoms will evaporate within a matter of hours. Take care to avoid direct sunlight for several days after your treatment.

What is Dr. Poulos’ approach?

A board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Poulos herself administers your treatment. Because of her specialization in cosmetic surgery, Dr. Poulos will artfully and precisely administer the treatment to give you a natural, ‘refreshed’ appearance – not a surprised or ‘frozen’ one.
