Tummy Tuck

Getting a tummy tuck can greatly improve your body image and self-esteem. The completed procedure results in a flatter and firmer abdominal region with a barely noticeable, "thinner-than-a-hair" scar across the abdomen. At Classique Medical Spa, our board-certified surgeon, Dr. Cynthia Poulos, proudly performs tummy tucks for patients looking to flatten and tighten their abdomens.

About the Tummy Tuck

An abdominoplasty, commonly known as a "tummy tuck," is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the abdominal region. It also restores weakened and separated muscles in the region to create a flatter and slimmer abdominal profile. With a recovery time of just a couple weeks, the procedure's firming and slimming benefits are sought out by clients of both genders experiencing sagging or excess skin.

Tummy Tuck Candidates

Excess skin and fat around the tummy can persist in even the fittest of individuals. Age, genetics, weight fluctuations, pregnancies, and other causes can all contribute to the sagging or protruding of the abdominal region. If you are suffering from excess sagging around your stomach due to one of these factors, you are likely a good candidate for an abdominoplasty. However, significant fluctuations in weight after receiving a tummy tuck can greatly diminish the procedure's benefits. If you are considering future pregnancies or planning major weight loss, it is advisable to postpone your abdominoplasty until your weight stabilizes.

Procedure and Recovery

Depending on the extent of the surgery, an abdominoplasty can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 3 hours. Our team performs full abdominoplasties in a hospital and less invasive "mini" tummy tucks in our AAAASF accredited surgical suite.

Before surgery, it is important to discuss your current medications with our team so that we can give you a pre-surgery administration plan. On the day of surgery, you are administered either intravenous sedation or general anesthesia to ensure a painless procedure. During surgery, we make a small horizontal incision between the belly button and the pubic hairline. The skin is lifted and the abdominal muscles underneath are repaired and tightened. The skin is then pulled back down and excess skin is removed. A new hole for the belly button is created, and the incision is closed. The result is a flatter and firmer abdomen.

Since each surgery is different, recovery lengths can vary. Our team will give you specific instructions on how to maintain your incisions and bandages so that they heal properly. Patients should allot 1-2 weeks before resuming sedentary work and an additional 1-2 weeks before resuming exercise or other strenuous physical activities.
