3 things you should know about tummy tucks

A bulging tummy is nothing to be ashamed of but if you want to get rid of that flab without exercise or it refuses to go despite exercise, then it is a good option. However, there are some things you need to know before undergoing the procedure such as:

  1. You will have to rest for a couple of weeks

Like any other surgical procedure, a tummy tuck is not a simple procedure. You cannot just jump back into your regular routine right after. The scars and tissues will need rest and time to heal and that means you cannot do any heavy duty activities after. Whether you live alone or with family, get someone to help around the house and take care of your needs while you recover after the procedure. You will not be in any condition to do so for at least a couple of weeks.

  1. It is not for everyone

Contrary to popular belief, a tummy tuck is not a weight loss procedure. In order to be eligible for one, you have to be as close to your ideal weight as possible. In other words, you should not be obese. Rather, you have to have excess skin you want to get rid of in the mid section. Some surgeons do offer liposuction as well so you can ask for it if you want. You also need to be healthy before undergoing the procedure so that you can heal properly after it.

  1. You have to allow yourself time to heal

The effects of a tummy tuck will not be apparent immediately. The scars will need time to heal for one thing and that means you cannot eat what you did before. Switch out unhealthy food with healthier alternatives to speed up the healing process so that you can see those results faster. In total, you will be looking at a couple of months before the marks disappear completely revealing the toned mid section beneath.
