Winter can be a tough time for you skin. Harsh temperatures and cold winds that feel like they cut right through you, can quickly dry out and cause damage to your skin if left uncared for. It is important to take the necessary precautions to ensure your skin doesn’t end up dry or damaged by these frigid winter months.

Here are 4 tips on how you can keep your skin looking moist and healthy in the winter:

Spend time indoors strength-training: With all the cold weather, you are sure to spend a lot more time indoors than you would in the summer, so why not take some of that indoor time and utilize it for some weight lifting? Studies have shown that lifting weights creates firmer skin from the neck down.

Choose your cleanser with care: Given that the winter elements are harsh on your skin, you need to be extra careful on the soaps you choose to use in the shower. Use mild cleansers during the winter months to not damage your skin further. Milder cleansers can contain ceramides which help to retain skin moisture.

Use multiple skin care products: There is no single solution to all your skin care needs, especially in the winter, so it is important to have multiple products that you utilize daily. Utilizing lotions with sunscreen and antioxidants in the morning followed up with some retinoids and peptides at night is a great skin care combination.

Stick to your nightly routine: It is important that you use skin care products before you go to bed at night to maintain that healthy skin during the winter. It can be difficult to stick to a routine when life keeps you busy, but one thing you can do to help maintain that routine is to store your skin care products right there on your nightstand so it is within an arm’s reach at night.
