Facelift Procedure and Recovery
What Is the Facelift Procedure?
The two types of facelifts are the standard and mini facelifts. Each technique varies according to the degree of correction necessary and may incorporate a neck lift to address excess skin and fat and horizontal neck bands. When Dr. Poulos examines your facial features and considers your cosmetic goals, she will determine which technique best achieves your desired results.
During a standard facelift, Dr. Poulos creates an incision in the hairline at the temples, which will continue around the ears and end in the lower scalp. She lifts the facial skin and re-suspends the deep tissues to a higher and more youthful position. Displaced fat will be relocated or resculpted to create a more natural-looking appearance. Finally, excess skin is trimmed, and the remaining skin will be redraped over the uplifted contours and closed with sutures.
What Is the Expected Recovery From a Facelift?
Dr. Poulos will give you detailed instructions and actively participate in your aftercare after recovery. She will routinely meet with you to ensure you heal quickly and safely. The initial recovery period lasts one to two weeks, during which you will need to refrain from everyday activities, including work and exercise. Bed rest is crucial to allow your body to heal correctly. Swelling and bruising are to be expected but should subside over time.
The results from your facelift in Berlin can last for many years with consistent care and maintenance. Good skincare and lifestyle habits, such as not smoking and avoiding the sun, can prolong your results. Dr. Poulos may also recommend BOTOX, dermal fillers, or other non-surgical treatments to maintain your rejuvenated and lifted appearance.
